and Service with Electronic Lifestyles® Industry Awards

DENVER (September 7, 2008) — During EXPO 2008, the  Custom Electronic Design and Installation Association (CEDIA) announced 32 of  its member companies have been recognized for their work in design and  installation.  These awards, which are  considered the most prestigious in the $6 billion industry1, are  presented annually in recognition of member companies that exemplify outstanding  integration of systems and meet their clients’ home technology needs. Two  panels consisting of members from the American Institute of Architects (AIA),  American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), and CEDIA, evaluated the winning  entries and scored them on technical merit and design/aesthetics. 
      
    The winning companies were recognized during the CEDIA  Electronic Lifestyles® Awards banquet on Saturday, September 6,  2008. All winners will appear in Electronic Lifestyles® magazine  which is distributed to architects, interior designers, building designers, and  builders throughout the United    States, and in future CEDIA publications and  press releases, identified as Electronic Lifestyles® Awards winners.

SIMPLE PLAN samed, 13 septembre / Centre Bell

    Simple Plan est un groupe de pop punk qui a vu le jour en 1999. Au début deux membres de ce groupe Pierre Bouvier et Chuck Comeau (qui étaient tous les deux au Collège Beaubois à Pierrefonds pour leur études secondaires) faisaient partie du groupe pop punk Reset qui s’était bien fait connaître au Québec.

    Après la sortie du premier disque de Reset, Chuck décide de quitter le groupe pour poursuivre ses études en droit et quelque temps plus tard, il fait la connaissance de Jeff Stinco et Sébastien Lefebvre. Ils décident de former un groupe. Cependant, il manque des membres pour qu’il soit complet, ils ont besoin d’un chanteur et d’un bassiste. Pendant ce temps là, Pierre décide à son tour de quitter Reset immédiatement après l’enregistrement du second disque. Il est vite remplacé par David Desrosiers, une connaissance du groupe.

    Chuck rencontre un soir Pierre dans un concert de Sugar Ray et lui parle de son nouveau groupe. Il l’invite à se joindre à eux. Pierre décide alors d’essayer. Mais avant de prendre son envol, le groupe pense qu’il manque encore quelqu’un. Ils ont besoin d’un bassiste. Ainsi, le chanteur n’aura pas à jouer de la guitare et ils pourront être davantage plus proche du public. C’est ainsi qu’ils décident d’ajouter un cinquième membre au groupe afin que Pierre puisse lâcher son fou sur scène. Ils se souviennent alors de David qui a remplacé Pierre dans Reset et se disent qu’il s’agit de la pièce manquante. Les membres se sont acharnés à le convaincre qu’il devait se joindre à Simple Plan et après quelques secondes d’hésitation, David accepte. C’est ainsi que Simple Plan est créé.

Canton's New "Reference" Speaker Line

Image    The new "Reference" line of high-end loudspeakers will consist of four models to be introduced between now and the end of the year. The Canton Reference 3.2 DC high performance full-range loudspeaker features Canton's first ceramic dome tweeter that sets a new higher standard for frequency response and power handling performance.

    The new Canton Reference 3.2 DC is a large floor-standing three-way bass reflex system with deep bass response and an exceptionally smooth high frequency response that is linear to 38.5 kHz. The enclosure is a two-chamber monocoque structure with curved side panels formed of five pressure-laminated layers of acoustically inert fiber-board and a high quality veneer finished in black, white or silver piano lacquer, or a cherry wood veneer with a rich piano finish. Thanks to engineering advances in the driver suspensions, motor systems, and the new designed TCC (triple curved cone) diaphragms, the upgraded Reference series drivers exhibit improved power handling, greater bass extension, and a 6-9 dB increase in deep bass output compared to the extremely capable versions previously used in the company's floor-standing loudspeakers.

    Among its key technical refinements, the Reference 3.2 features Canton's new ceramic dome tweeter, which replaces the company's high performance aluminum-manganese dome with one made of aluminum oxide. By incorporating this new material with Canton's well proven and powerful narrow-gap motor system, this driver can achieve exceptional sound levels and high frequencies without harshness or distortion.

    The tweeter is complemented by a 7-inch aluminum midrange driver and a pair of 8-1/2 inch aluminum woofers. These powerful drivers employ the new Canton-developed TCC triple curved cone, which replaces the traditional flat-radius cone shape with a complex curved cross-sectional profile that shifts break-up modes to frequencies well above the speaker's operating range.

ImageMontréal, le 4 septembre 2008 – Pour célébrer l’héritage légué par cette immense artiste qu’était Pauline Julien et pour commémorer les dix ans de sa disparition, des chanteurs et musiciens se regroupent afin de créer l’événement PAULINE À LA PAGE. Une occasion unique de découvrir ou de redécouvrir des trésors du répertoire de Pauline Julien. Une œuvre passée au tamis de l’Histoire et réactualisée par la voix et la vision d’interprètes d’aujourd’hui et de demain. PAULINE À LA PAGE est le résultat d’une résidence artistique, d’une réunion d’amoureux de la chanson dont le principal objectif est de s’approprier, pour ensuite retransmettre, l’œuvre de Pauline Julien aux jeunes générations; le tout sous l’éclairage musical d’Éric Auclair et la direction artistique de Nelson Minville.

Enfin sur DVD, Don Juan!

Montréal, le jeudi 4 septembre 2008 – Don Juan, enfin sur DVD! En magasin dès le 16 septembre, le DVD du spectacle musical désormais disponible. Près de 5 ans après ses débuts fracassants sur scène, le spectacle musical Don Juan arrive en version DVD. Enregistré lors du passage de la troupe au Palais des Congrès de Paris en 2005, le coffret comprend la version intégrale de la représentation, son making of ainsi que les clips musicaux et autres ajouts. Replongez dans l’univers mythique du spectacle, et ce, dans le confort de votre foyer, et retrouvez le charme de ses interprètes : Jean-François Breau, Marie-Eve Janvier, Geneviève Charest, Mario Pelchat, Philippe Berghella, Cindy Daniel, Claude Lancelot et Chico Castillo.

    C’est à l’âme créatrice de l’auteur-compositeur français Félix Gray que nous devons cette sublime adaptation musicale des aventures de Don Juan. C’est par son talent de parolier et ses mélodies accrocheuses qu’il a su traduire, en langage universel, l’histoire du célèbre séducteur.

    Spectacle mis en scène par Gilles Maheu, acclamé par plus de 500 000 personnes et présenté devant public de par le monde, Don Juan, grâce à sa version DVD, charmera de nouveaux publics. Ayant conquis le Québec avec ses nombreux succès, l’engouement demeure, et ce, grâce aux extraits de l’album entendus de façon quotidienne sur de nombreuses grandes stations de radio.
